Meat processing company requires a qualified and experienced Financial Manager with the ability to effectively and efficiently manage the total financial business of the company, who specialises in meat production.  Applicants that are interested and meet the minimum requirements are invited to apply.

The main purpose of this position will include but is not limited to the managing and executing of the complete financial function.  This will require planning, organizing, leading and the control of the function at large as well as managing a number of subordinates.  The applicant will need to work very close with fellow management to identify and develop plans, budgets and strategies to insure a growing future.  The incumbent must have the ability to control and manage his/her financial team effectively and meet the set targets.  Cost accounting experience in the meat manufacturing environment is essential.  It will be required of the incumbent to not only manage the function and team in an office environment but he/she must interact with the production staff and assist with financial related matters on the production floor e.g. physical stock takes etc.  A sound knowledge of financially related legislation and accounting practices are essential.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have a BComm Accounting.
  • Additional accounting courses and diploma’s beneficial.
  • Min of 10 years in the accounting field.
  • Must have experience pertaining to the processed meat industry.
  • Ability to calculate and report on product costings.
  • Formulating of weekly margin reports, performing a stock variance and balance report, production variance management as well as monitoring yields.
  • Capacity to recommend and implement product cost and margin improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee weekly profit forecast to focus resources and ensure budget delivery
  • Full understanding of all financial statutory requirements.
  • Able to manage and delegate duties to team effectively and efficiently.
  • Attention to detail and analytical thinking abilities.
  • Strong capacity to solve complex problems through initiative.
  • Computer literate and ability to work on accounting software.
  • Ability to work under pressure and complete duties within deadlines timeframe.
  • Capacity to balance both time and resources available.
  • Must have good communication and interpersonal skills required both verbally and in writing towards clients, team and management.
  • Own reliable transport.
