Job Description

Samsung Cambridge is looking for enthusiastic interns to join us over the summer of 2019 to work within various departments as part of our R&D centre. We develop world-leading connectivity IP, targeting a broad range of applications from mobile phones through to IoT and everything in-between.  Please see below for our departments offering intern opportunities:

Please mention in your CV your top two department preferences (e.g. VV and DO).

Architecture & Digital Design (ADD)

The Architecture and Digital Design Group is looking for bright, creative and highly motivated interns to work in a range of disciplines including algorithm exploration, digital design and verification. The ideal candidate is interested in working on the next generation of mobile wireless solutions, has experience in one or more of C, SystemVerilog, MATLAB or Python, and has a basic understanding of digital signal processing and communication systems.

Wi-Fi Firmware (WF)

The WiFi Firmware team is looking for interns who are real self-starters, eager to get involved with hands on projects that will be used in the products or by the team. The ideal person will be happy working on core firmware, extending test systems, enhancing analysis tools using machine learning and debugging real customer issues. Knowledge of C, Python and Wi-Fi are all applicable.

Radio Firmware (RF)

The Radio Firmware Team is looking for passionate and enthusiastic interns to join the team. You will work on range of tasks including development of firmware, to control and optimise the performance of the Wi-Fi radio transmitter and receiver, prototyping algorithms in Matlab, extending test systems and improving the debug tools such as IQ capture. The ideal candidate will have software development knowledge together with basic radio understanding. Some hands-on experience in C, Python and Matlab is beneficial but not mandatory.

Dev Ops (DO)

If you like challenging projects and you have some software development knowledge, and you will enjoy this internship. You will be given the choice to go into one of the following two:

  •  Audio (DA): The Audio Team will provide hands on experience with Bluetooth Audio streaming technologies. An open minded, “can-do attitude”, knowledge in Python and a grounding in audio techniques would be ideal.
  • Software Infrastructure (DSI): The Software Infra team works in a wide range of system areas from embedded ARM firmware development through to Linux kernel drivers and Android integration. The ideal person would have some experience in low-level C development, and/or a passion for working with Android devices, kernel hacking, perhaps a RaspberryPi enthusiast.

Verification and Validation (VV)

The Verification and Validation team is looking for interns to support Wi-Fi testing. The work will involve a mixture of setting up test hardware, hands-on testing and scripting to automate the tests and analyse the results.  We are looking for candidates with good analytical skills, the ability to write code (we particularly like Python) and an interest in making our world-class products even better. The team develops and uses sophisticated test systems to prove Samsung’s Wi-Fi and Bluetooth products.
