Job Description

We are looking for a Contractor to join our Test Team to support with testing SCSC’s latest Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity chips to ensure they meet the highest standards. The initial contract term will be around six months.

We test at a system level, normally using Android platforms to exercise the firmware, drivers and host code written by our developers.

The contract will involve test planning, test development, testing, test automation, debugging of software and customer support.  You will need to be an engineer with good scripting ability (e.g. using perl, python or java), test development and testing experience.

You will need to be passionate about improving software quality, able to produce detailed bug reports, communicate effectively with developers and work collaboratively with internal and external teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Test software to agreed timescales.
  • Develop, test and maintain software test scripts.
  • Monitor, update and modify existing automated tests as necessary
  • Maintain and support software test equipment and systems.
  • Execute tests and provide timely analysis and feedback on test results.
  • Manage automated regression test setup
  • Working with customers to understand, reproduce and debug issues seen in field testing

Required Skills:

  • Attention to detail and a result driven approach
  • Prior experience of developing automated tests using python or JavaScript.
  • Ability to develop clear, concise, test plans and cases, and perform manual and automated tests
  • Ability to interpret written requirements and technical specification documents
  • Confident written and verbal communicator including client facing roles
  • Understanding of how to rigorously test software using various techniques

Desired Skills:

  • Experience of working within Agile/SCRUM environments
  • Experience of software development, use of version control, continuous integration and issue tracking tools such as GIT, Jenkins and JIRA.
  • Experience in most of the following is preferred: Exploratory, Automated, Functional, and Performance testing.
  • Experience of wireless communication protocols such as Wi-Fi or Bluetooth
  • Knowledge of Android or Linux kernel
  • Competent using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, etc.
