We are Samsung Cambridge.

We focus on the development of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chipsets. Our first-rate connectivity IP is in a wide range of devices from mobiles through to IOT and everything in between.

We're looking for a Test Engineer to join our Wi-Fi Firmware team. You'll be responsible for testing our latest features and ensuring they meet the highest standards. You will be testing from unit level up to system level on a variety of platforms including Android. Exercising the firmware, drivers and host code written by our software developers.

We'd like someone who is passionate about improving software quality and testing methods. Communicating and engaging with developers is a key part of your role to be able to resolve issues. You'll have strong collaboration skills as you contribute to test development and direction with the team.

You will become an integral part of the Wi-Fi team. You'll enjoy working in a demanding yet stimulating role with a potential to progress your career.

We are part of a global company and our customers are worldwide. Occasionally, you may need to travel as part of your role. This could be to visit another office or to support customers on site.

Your responsibilities:

  • Plan and carry out test campaigns that deliver clear results and good debugging information to developers
  • Develop, test and maintain software test script
  • Configure and maintain software test equipment and systems
  • Creating supporting documentation
  • Triage issues and raise defect reports
  • Generate logs and other relevant data to support debugging
  • Contribute towards test improvement initiatives

 

Skills, experience and qualifications you'll need:

  • A relevant degree in either maths, science, software or electronics
  • If you don't have a degree, you'll have an equivalent qualification or experience
  • Programming and scripting ability
  • Good understanding of software test methods
  • Good understanding of debugging
  • Effective team player
  • Good communicator
  • Good problem solving ability

 

Skills and experience that would be useful:

  • Detailed knowledge of the WLAN on air protocol
  • Use of version control, continuous integration and issue tracking tools such as GIT, Jenkins and JIRA
  • Experience of wireless communication protocols
  • Linux and networking expertise
  • Experience in Certification Testing in either Wi-Fi or Bluetooth
