At Samsung Cambridge we design Bluetooth and Wi-Fi IP for the Exynos series of processors. Our first-rate connectivity IP is in a wide range of devices from mobiles through to IOT and everything in between.

 

Your role

We're looking for a Principal SoC Architect to join our Architecture & Digital Design team. Our team has responsibilities throughout the product life cycle. We help to define product requirements and architect our IP across SoC, control plane, data plane and RF disciplines.

We implement and verify the digital parts of our system. After production, we assist with silicon bring up and debugging through to customer support.

We offer world-leading solutions. This can be difficult while trying to minimise power consumption and area. Ideally, you'll need to have experience in this area.

You will be in a technical leadership position within our organisation. You'll be helping to define and deliver world-leading solutions. Our team is highly motivated and effective, and is a brilliant environment for you to excel.

 

Skills and experience you need:

  • Knowledge of modern SoC architecture across components such as processors, interconnects, DMA engines and encryption cores

  • Excellent technical documentation skills

  • An ability to write reference material for a variety of stakeholders

  • SoC level modelling skills to determine memory sizes, bus widths, clock speeds for key system components

  • Knowledge of high level system partitioning (including SW vs HW, embedded vs host)

 

Skills and experience that would be useful:

  • Experience of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

  • Knowledge of customer critical operating modes and their impact on PPA optimisation

  • Experience in using SystemVerilog for logic design

  • Experience in embedded programming in C

  • Knowledge of Samsung (or similar) foundry processes including current trade-offs of leakage vs active power consumption and maximum achievable clock speeds in different nodes

  • Experience architecting systems taking into account security concerns

  • Experience of digital signal processing, and specifically trade-offs between HW and SW approaches and the consequences for RF circuit design

  • Micro-architectural knowledge of CPU architecture, especially for ARM R and M series cores and their peripherals (interrupt controllers, caches, etc.)

  • Experience of virtual prototyping techniques (e.g. Synopsys Platform Architect)
